Tamworth Barbeque Festival

The Tamworth Barbeque Festival is not short on entertainment, with two stages offering more than 20 hours of live music over the three days of the festival. With a great mix of music on offer there's something for everyone.

Friday 27 September

1.30pm Jack Daniel's Stage

For two decades, Sarah Head has left her mark on the global music scene with her emotive lyrics, sensational vocals, and captivating stage presence.

As a singer-songwriter based near Tamworth, she's released two EPs featuring original contemporary country tracks, gaining international radio and online streaming recognition, with her music videos featured on CMT. Her second EP, "Nothin’ But Love," recorded in Nashville, showcases her undeniable talent, highlighted by a performance at the renowned Bluebird Café.

In 2015, her song "Gypsy Soul" propelled her to the semi-finals of the International Songwriting Competition. She also achieved top-four finalist status in the 2013 Toyota Star Maker competition and top-five finalist positions in the MusicOz Awards for Independent Artists and the People’s Choice Awards for Most Promising Future Star, establishing her as a respected performer in the music industry. 

Sally-Anne Whitten and the Rumour Mill

3.15pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Sally-Anne Whitten was born and raised in Tamworth NSW on a healthy dose of blues, rock and country music. Her 3 albums and 2 latest singles have won her international songwriting awards, top spots on playlists and charts & a worldwide fan base.

2009’s debut album “Blurring The Lines”, a mix of covers and original material, delivered two Top 30 international and Australian radio hits.

Three years later “Sell My Soul” was born and produced by Sally-Anne’s guitarist/Golden Guitar winning producer and husband Alwyn Aurisch. Sally-Anne has been blessed to share the stage with many big name acts but no more rewarding than Keith Urban when she opened his show in her hometown.

On April 30, 2021, the self-penned single ‘Not Afraid of The Dark’, celebrating the lighthouse people in her life, was released and debuted at #3 on the iTunes Country Music Top Songs chart. New album is set for release in 2024.

Joel McKay   

4.30pm Jack Daniel's Stage

Werris Creek turned Tamworth local, Joel McKay has spent the last 5 years playing music around most of Northern NSW. 

Having the opportunity to be a part of the 2019 Academy of Country Music has given the chance to hone skills in song writing and perform among many seasoned musicians and Golden Guitarists.

Joel brings a chilled vibe and rustic voice to his music which can be found in his debut E.P living to Survive.

Liquid Zoo

5pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

The young Tamworth-bred four piece (Vanda, Oscar, Sam, Angus & Myles) come together to capture nostalgic elements of classic rock that’s sure to leave you not only wanting more but craving it.

The band have been tearing it up at local venues, house parties & even selling out a large industrial local warehouses (given they were underage at the time and couldn’t gig in venues). Plus some support slots with King Stingray, Adam Newling, Pacific Avenue & The Lazy Eyes.

Backed by four self produced singles under their belt, the band have been recently been buckling down in the studio with producer Jack Nigro (DMA’S, Middle Kids, Skegss, Pacific Avenue) on their upcoming catalogue.

Jo & Kym 

6.15pm & 8pm Jack Daniel's Stage

Jo & Kym are a soul, pop funk duo based in Tamworth NSW. These guys feature beautiful acoustic versions of all your favourite songs, they have both worked with the best in the industry and their unique brand of entertainment fuses hard hitting grooves and strong vocals with upbeat 80’s, 90’s & 2000’s power chick tunes that will make you want to dance.

Sweet Talk

6.45pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Sweet Talk are renowned for their high-energy live shows readily whipping unsuspecting punters into frenzied states of boogie and unabashed song at the drop of a hat. The 6-piece band from Melbourne was founded over a bond of late nights, American music, classic song writing and improvised jams.

Sweet Talk stitch together a rich tapestry of vintage influence into something altogether their own. Let the good times roll!

The Wolfe Brothers

8.30pm Tooheys Ultra stage

It has been an amazing 12 year ride for  The Wolfe Brothers. They first found fame on Australia’s Got Talent and after placing second they were signed to a management company followed by a recording contract and then were hired by Lee Kernaghan to open all of his shows and also to play in his band.

The Wolfe Brothers have achieved over their career four #1 and two #2 ARIA Country Albums that have delivered 19 #1 singles on the National Country Music Chart. With nine Golden Guitars under their belt and 4 ARIA nominations they are now Australia’s most awarded country rock duo in history. After being nominated for 6 Golden Guitars at the 2024 Country Music Awards the duo took home 3 of the coveted Golden statues.

The brothers from Tasmania have travelled countless road miles in Australia, USA and Canada. 2023 saw The Wolfe Brothers take their Livin’ The Dream Tour all around Australia.

Matt Barratt

10am Jack Daniel's Stage

Matt Barratt is a 18 year old multi-genre musician. Matt was selected as one of the Best of the Buskers finalist at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2022 and 2023 and was voted the People’s Choice of 2022. Matt graduated from the CMAA Junior Academy in 2023.

Earlier this year Matt opened for Shannon Noll in Newcastle on his 20 Year Anniversary Tour and has recently formed the Matt Barratt and The Red Flags band performing in the New England and Hunter regions.

Jack and the Axes

12pm Tooheys Ultra stage

Jack and the Axes are an electrifying original blues band out of Newcastle, Australia.

With a large collection of original songs influenced by classic artists like John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie-Ray Vaughan, BB King and Joe Bonamassa, the band brings their years of industry experience to the stage in a powerful and provocative performance.  Along with mature songwriting, lead singer Anyerin Drury brings gutsy vocals, emotional guitar lines and killer harp solos, supported by a solid but spicy rhythm section from bassist Danny McKibben and drummer Aiden Smith. Between their catchy tunes and intense dynamic expression, Jack and the Axes will leave you simply wanting more of the blues.

 

Cody Walker

1pm Jack Daniel's Stage

Cody Walker, a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist from Tamworth, NSW and a recent graduate of the CMAA Academy, where he was the recipient of the John Minson/Tamworth Regional Council Scholarship, he placed in the top 5 at the Country on Keppel Peter Blundell Memorial Talent Search and top 10 in the Today's Country 94.1fm Brand New Star Competition. Since busking on the streets of Tamworth at the 2023 TCMF, he is quickly making a name for himself in the country scene.

Savage Groove

1.30pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Savage Groove are a 4-piece Australian Rock, soul, pop, funk band from Tamworth NSW. The band formed in 2022 from a collaboration of professional musicians who have all worked with the best in the industry in and out of the studio. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses hard hitting grooves and strong vocals with upbeat 80's, 90's / 2000's power chick tunes that will make you want to dance. every performance is of the highest quality as is the production sound and lighting.

Marc Jackson

2.45pm & 4.30pm Jack Daniel's Stage

Marc Jackson is certainly one musician who captivates the moment the first chord is struck!

This singer/songwriter revels in colouring outside the lines, and while maintaining a true respect for artists such as The Beatles, Chris Stapleton, Eddie Vedder and Elton John.

Brother Hollow

3.15pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Combining classic country roots with a modern twist - inspired by the likes of Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs - Brother Hollow presents a new sound that pairs vintage charm with a modern flair. 

Founded in 2020, the band’s energetic live show and powerful original music produce a musical powerhouse unlike any other band currently gracing Australian stages.

Ready to commit to their own sound, Brother Hollow released their debut single, Neon Lights, in March 2024 garnering national and international success, gaining over 10,000 streams in the first week, and multiple Spotify and Apple Music playlist adds. Radio play has included ABC Grassroots, Sunburnt Country and Valley FM to name a few. 

Hurricane Fall

5pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Hurricane Fall’s sound is a modern but earthy fusion of their Country roots, and the classic rock heritage of the Steel City where they reside. This combined with a Pop sensibility in their song writing suggests a wide range of influences. Classic country like Garth Brooks, the classic Rock of Eric Clapton and modern contemporaries Brothers Osborne. Their sound combined with a captivating high energy live performance creates an unmistakeable package that is most definitely Hurricane Fall.

Alignnment of their unwavering dedication to the do-it-yourself work ethic with a unique Country sound, Jesse Vee (singer/guitarist), Pepper Deroy (singer/bassist), Lachlan Coffey (drummer), Tim Hickey (keyboardist/guitarist) and Luke Wheeldon (guitarist/producer), have helped to define the landscape of today’s country music scene.

Chloe & James

6.15pm & 8pm Jack Daniel's Stage

Local Upper Hunter duo,  Chloe & James will continue the party vibes playing songs you can dance along to!

 

 

Jayne Denham

6.45pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Five-time Golden Guitar nominee Jayne Denham is one of Australia's most admired and sought-after country rock performers. Her songs are staples on Australian Country Music Radio. Hits such as “Hung Up on You," “Stacks” and “Addicted To The Diesel.” Her 5th album, WANTED, came out of the gate firing all the bullets, reaching No. 1 on the ARIA Australia Country Album chart and No. 2 on the Air Australian Indie charts after Jimmy Barnes. The success of Jayne’s album has scored her two Golden Guitar nominations for Female Artist of the Year and Contemporary Album of the Year, making her a five-time Golden Guitar nominee.


Over the past two years, Jayne has played festivals around the country including headlining Toyota Tamworth Country Music Festival, Deni Ute Muster, Gympie Muster, Groundwater CM Festival, Mandurah CM Festival, Mornington CM Festival and NQ’s Rockin’ Country to name a few.

Y.O.G.A.

8.30pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Y.O.G.A. is a new music project from Reuben Styles. In Peking Duk, his songs frequently explore ideas of freedom and the feeling of breaking loose. Y.O.G.A., short for “You’re Only Great Always”, does the same. But with a significant twist. Here Reuben seeks to disrupt the stigma Australian culture places upon mental health.

 

Sunday 29 September

One Job

10am & 1pm Jack Dniel's Stage

One Job are a Tamworth three piece band that perform an eclectic mix of timeless covers. The band consists of brothers Jackson (keyboard, backing vocals) Oliver (drums, guitar, cajon, backing vocals) and Bayley (lead vocals and guitar). The boys first started playing together in their garage 7 years ago and have been gigging publicly since the beginning of 2023.  From Elton John and Queen, to Guy Sebastian and Coldplay, One Job enjoy covering popular songs from the rock and pop genre. 

Buddy Knox Blues Band

11.30am Tooheys Ultra Stage

Buddy is a nationally travelled, award winning Blues man who thrills his crowd with his 335 Gibson guitar prowess.  He promises to ‘smoke ya boots’ with searing guitar licks, heartfelt stories, powerful vocals and authentic Blues. 

Crazy Train

1.30pm Tooheys Ultra Stage

Crazy Train will play all the classic Aussie tunes you know and love.
